Linear focal elastosis associated with exercise

چکیده
PXE: pseudoxanthoma elasticum INTRODUCTION Linear focal elastosis (also known as elastotic striae) is a rare, acquired disorder of increased elastic tissue in the skin. Initially believed to be limited to elderly white men, this condition has since been reported in women, children, and patients from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The possibility of inherited susceptibility has been suggested by cases with positive familial associations. However, little is known about the pathogenesis of this condition or the events that trigger its development. Here, we present the interesting case of an elderly man in whom linear focal elastosis developed on the midupper and lower back 1 year after beginning a rigorous, indoor swimming exercise program.

A case of linear focal elastosis with a family history.
Linear focal elastosis is an uncommon disorder typically occurring in the back region, which clinically presents as band-like striae, having a histological focal increase in abnormal elastic fibers. Until now, linear focal elastosis occurring in patients with a family history have been rarely reported. Here, we present one such case, of linear focal elastosis which occurred in a brother and sis...
متن کاملEarly onset linear focal elastosis in a Turkish boy.
A 14-year-old boy applied to our outpatient clinic with a three-month history of lesions on the back. The physical examination revealed linear, yellow, stria-like palpable bands surrounded by a slight erythema extending horizontally across the back. Histopathological examination of the lesional skin demonstrated coarseness in collagen bundles and homogenization and decrement in elastic fibers w...
متن کاملLinear Focal Elastosis Following Striae Distensae: Further Evidence of Keloidal Repair Process in the Pathogenesis of Linear Focal Elastosis
Linear focal elastosis (LFE) is a rare dermal elastosis characterized by hypertrophic yellowish linear plaques and increased abnormal elastic tissues in the lumbosacral area. Although the pathogenesis of this disorder remains unknown, it may be associated with keloidal repair process (KRP) of elastic tissues in striae distensae (SD), because there have been some reported cases of LFE accompanie...
متن کاملLinear Focal Elastosis - A Case Report
Linear focal elastosis (LFE) is a disorder of elastic fibers characterized by palpable, yellow ish, linear striae distributed horizontally over the mid and lower back. Histologically, the find ings are increased amounts of elastic fibers with a fairly thin, wavy, elongated and fragmented morphology. The most important differential diagnosis of LFE is striae distensae which is mainly a disorder ...
متن کاملCould a Growth Spurt Cause Linear Focal Elastosis Like Striae Distensae?
Linear focal elastosis (LFE) is characterized by several asymptomatic, yellow, palpable, irregularly indurated, striae-like lines extending horizontally across the middle and lower back. A focal increase in elastic fibers is a hallmark of the disease as seen from biopsy specimens. The pathogenesis of LFE is unclear, as is the association between LFE and striae distensae (SD). However, the preva...
